Solos cuts smart glasses weight in half with camera-free AirGo A6 design
The new AirGo A6 ditches cameras for a voice-controlled AI assistant and slims down to just 19 grams—roughly a third lighter than competitors.

Solos has unveiled the AirGo A6, a streamlined take on smart glasses that prioritizes lightness and privacy by eliminating the camera hardware found in many rival devices. At approximately 19 grams, the new model nearly halves the weight of its predecessor—the A5, which tipped the scales at 36 to 40 grams depending on frame choice—and sits well below the 54 to 60 grams of Meta's recently announced glasses.
Design and construction#
The dramatic weight reduction hinges on slimmer temple arms that house speakers, batteries, and other electronic components while omitting image sensors. The glasses arrive in multiple frame styles, including transparent color variants that showcase the internal circuitry. Full prescription lens compatibility will be available, though final pricing and launch details remain unconfirmed.
Feature set#
Users interact with the device entirely through voice, accessing an AI assistant that handles spoken queries, provides real-time language translation, and manages calendar notifications. The speaker placement behind the ears allows wearers to enjoy music and answer calls while remaining aurally aware of their environment—a practical consideration for everyday use.
Privacy-first accessories#
Solos is simultaneously rolling out fresh privacy options for last year's AirGo V2 model. The lineup includes transparent, unpowered replacement temple frames ($39) and a physical privacy shield that mechanically blocks the V2's camera lens. A $49 bundle pairs the shield with clip-on shades offering UV and glare protection, or customers can buy all accessories together for $79.
The camera-less approach reflects growing consumer concern over surveillance features in wearable tech, positioning Solos' strategy as a counterpoint to device makers investing heavily in optical capture capabilities.
