Jaguar's production EV mirrors its controversial concept, starting at $130k
The British automaker's first electric vehicle largely retains the polarizing design of the Type 00 concept, complete with dramatic styling and leading-edge performance specs.

Jaguar has unveiled the Type 01, its first production electric vehicle, which closely adheres to the aesthetic established by the much-debated Type 00 concept. The four-door grand tourer marks a significant shift for the storied brand and represents its most potent road car to date.
Design stays true to the concept#
Despite the designer behind the Type 00 being let go earlier in 2024, Jaguar has retained nearly all of the prototype's defining visual elements. The production version preserves the low, stretched profile and oversized 23-inch wheels, though the move to four doors gives the proportions a more grounded appearance. The company has dropped the striking hot pink hue of the concept—a design choice that raised eyebrows given the impending release of GTA VI.
Inside, the cabin showcases leather accents and brass trim. A large 24-inch OLED instrument panel anchors the driver's position, while a central "spine" houses smaller 7-inch touchscreens positioned both front and rear for climate, audio, and seat adjustments. The rear compartment forgoes a traditional window, instead embedding a display that feeds from a rear-facing camera and doubles as a panoramic soundbar element.
Performance and range#
The Type 01's powertrain comprises three electric motors—one handling the front axle and a pair at the rear—collectively generating 1,016 horsepower and 1,365 newton-meters of torque. The car accelerates from rest to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds and reaches 112 mph in an additional 4 seconds. An 118-kilowatt-hour battery pack offers up to 400 miles of driving range, with 350-kilowatt DC charging capable of replenishing 200 miles in roughly 13 minutes.
Availability and pricing#
Pre-orders open in early 2027, with deliveries beginning in the second half of that year. Jaguar has announced at least one variant will start at $130,500, though the full pricing menu has yet to be disclosed. Interested buyers can currently register their intent with the company.
