Apple and LG's smart home lineup takes shape with new thermostat, deadbolt, and sensors
Leaks reveal details on Apple's collaboration with LG to create connected home devices set to launch alongside Apple's new smart home hub.

Apple's push into the smart home market is becoming clearer following new technical details about devices it's developing in partnership with LG, according to leaker "pdfu" on X. The devices are expected to integrate with a rumored Apple smart home hub launching October 13th.
The Smart Deadbolt#
The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock offers multiple ways to secure a home beyond traditional keys. The device includes a rotating keypad mechanism, adjustable installation to prevent rotating parts from colliding with walls, and mechanical backup keys for emergencies. Beyond the hardware, users can unlock via access codes, remote commands from a phone, or through automatic triggers. The lock also features a door-open sensor that alerts users if they've forgotten to secure the entryway, along with configurable lighting for the keypad.
Thermostat and Temperature Control#
The LG Smart Thermostat sports a circular design centered on a prominent display showing real-time temperature and humidity levels. To address the challenge of uneven heating or cooling across larger homes, LG is providing a companion Temperature Sensor that can be positioned in other rooms. The sensor connects magnetically to metal surfaces or adheres via an included metal plate, communicates humidity data back to the thermostat, and runs on a replaceable battery with low-battery notifications.
The thermostat itself includes tunable settings for display brightness and temperature offset calibration, letting users fine-tune readings and appearance to match their preferences.
What's Next#
Pricing and exact availability remain unclear at this stage. However, the full compatibility with Apple's incoming smart home infrastructure positions these devices as alternatives to existing options like Google's Nest thermostat, as the LG thermostat includes a "Far Sight Display" feature comparable to Nest's offering.
