Otter.ai Secures $320M From General Catalyst for Meeting Intelligence Expansion
The decade-old transcription platform is leveraging a non-dilutive funding round to scale its enterprise presence and push deeper into voice-based workflow automation.
TechCrunch — AI
Otter.ai has secured a substantial non-dilutive investment of $320 million from General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund, marking a major inflection point for the meeting transcription and analytics platform. The capital deployment signals investor confidence in voice-based enterprise AI and reflects the company's growing footprint in a crowded market.
Growth and Market Position#
The platform has reached 40 million cumulative users, up from 25 million a year earlier, and recently crossed the $100 million annual recurring revenue threshold. Founded nearly a decade ago, Otter.ai had previously raised $50 million across earlier funding rounds, with its last institutional raise in 2021. This latest capital injection represents a significant expansion of its financial runway without surrendering additional equity.
Strategic Priorities#
The funds are earmarked for accelerating enterprise adoption, refining its go-to-market approach, pushing into international markets, and accelerating product development. Pranav Singhvi, partner and co-founder at CVF, framed the opportunity around capturing and transforming voice data into structured business intelligence, positioning transcribed meetings as a foundation for faster decision-making and cross-organizational productivity gains.
Competitive Landscape#
Otter faces stiff competition in the rapidly consolidating meeting-notes space, with well-capitalized players like Fireflies.ai, Granola, and Read AI already established. Category newcomers including Calendly, Wispr, and Superhuman (which acquired Fathom) are also racing to embed themselves into enterprise workflows.
