Samsung's Z Fold and Flip 8 foldables launch August 7 with up to $350 gift card deals

Samsung has unveiled three new foldable phones at Galaxy Unpacked: the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Starting from $1,199.99 to $2,699.99, all three are available for preorder immediately, with official availability arriving August 7th.

Lineup changes and key specs#

This year Samsung restructured its foldable range around use cases. The Z Fold 8 Ultra targets productivity users with a design closer to the previous Z Fold 7, while the standard Z Fold 8 prioritizes entertainment with a wider, shorter profile that doubles as a compact tablet when opened. The Z Flip 8 keeps the clamshell design but drops weight and thickness compared to the Flip 7.

All three models ship with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, Android 17, and One UI 9. The software introduces Gemini Intelligence for task automation and Now Nudge, which offers proactive suggestions like calendar reminders.

Display and hardware improvements#

Samsung's new Flex Titanium display technology makes the center crease significantly less noticeable on both Fold models. The Z Fold 8 Ultra pushes performance with a 5,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, 45W wired and 20W wireless charging, up to 16GB RAM, and an upgraded camera system featuring a 50-megapixel ultrawide and 200-megapixel main sensor.

The standard Z Fold 8 features a more compact 4:3 aspect ratio inner display optimized for reading and gaming. Its 4,800mAh battery represents an upgrade from the previous generation, though it trades the telephoto lens for a dual-camera setup.

The Z Flip 8 now includes a vastly improved cover screen—you can manage notifications, access quick settings, and launch apps without opening the phone. The clamshell retains its 6.9-inch main OLED display and 4.1-inch outer screen, plus the same core 50-megapixel and 12-megapixel camera pairing.

Pricing and retailer incentives#

Z Fold 8 Ultra pricing begins at $2,099.99 (256GB) and scales to $2,699.99 (1TB). Amazon offers a $350 gift card; Best Buy adds $200. Samsung provides $200 in store credit plus a $30 bonus for prior reservations, with code good for another $100 off.
