Framework offers cheaper SSDs on Laptop 13 Pro, warns of CPU price hikes
Framework secured more affordable PCIe Gen 5 storage from Adata, allowing some customers to upgrade at lower costs—but the company is signaling that system prices may rise in the coming weeks due to CPU costs.

Framework has delivered a mixed update for Laptop 13 Pro customers. On the positive side, the company has negotiated lower prices on PCIe Gen 5 SSDs from supplier Adata, which means buyers who ordered configurations with 500GB storage will now receive 1TB drives instead at reduced cost. New orders can also be configured with 1TB or 2TB SSD options.
The less encouraging news: Framework is warning of an impending price increase. The company says it has "gotten signals that CPU pricing will be increasing soon" and expects to "adjust the overall system price on Framework Laptop 13 Pro in the coming weeks for new orders."
The price pressure reflects broader component market turbulence. Apple and Xbox have also announced price hikes this week amid the ongoing component crisis affecting the wider tech industry.
Framework's CEO previously pitched the Laptop 13 Pro as the "MacBook Pro for Linux users." The company initially targeted a June launch but pushed shipments to July to address issues with its haptic touchpad and custom display.
