The White House has begun operating a continuous YouTube livestream dubbed "Trump TV," featuring edited compilations of President Trump's remarks, ceremonial signings, and other official moments. The channel went live shortly after the administration barred CNN, MSNBC, and Politico from White House access.
The Channel's Purpose#
Kaelan Dorr, the White House's digital strategy chief, described the program as a showcase of Trump's "greatest hits, unfiltered." According to Dorr, the channel will feature content that reflects the administration's work, stating that traditional media outlets had "reported inaccurately or not at all" on what he characterized as the president's accomplishments.
The White House promoted the launch with a creative promo that spliced clips from popular TV shows including The Office, Seinfeld, and Family Guy to build anticipation.
Swift Backlash#
The channel's debut provoked quick condemnation. California Governor Gavin Newsom labeled it "state-run TV," while the three barred outlets—CNN, MSNBC, and Politico—filed suit, arguing that the exclusion "threatens press freedom and the public's right to independent journalism free from government interference."
Five major broadcasters—ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News, and NBC—issued a joint statement opposing the White House's decision to remove a news organization over editorial disagreements.
