JBL launches Cove speaker line to compete in whole-home audio market
Three new wireless speakers link together for multi-room listening, targeting Sonos and Bose customers with models ranging from $229 to $449.

JBL is expanding beyond portable speakers into the competitive whole-home audio space with the launch of its new Cove series. The range combines flexible deployment options with connectivity features designed to rival established players like Sonos and Bose's recently announced Lifestyle Ultra speakers.
Three models offer different features and price points#
The lineup spans three distinct speakers in black or white finishes, launching September 13th. The entry-level Cove M1 at $229.95 includes three tweeters and a 4-inch woofer but requires a power cord. The Cove P1 ($399.95) steps up with battery capability—claiming up to 14 hours of runtime—and adds Dolby Atmos, eliminating the need for a wall outlet. The top-tier Cove X1 ($449.95) doubles down on audio hardware with four tweeters and dual woofers alongside Dolby Atmos support, though it needs to remain plugged in.
Connected audio and app control#
Speakers link via Wi-Fi and can be managed through the JBL One app, allowing users to stream music across rooms and adjust speaker groupings. The system incorporates automatic acoustic tuning and an "AI Sound Boost" feature aimed at maintaining sound quality at higher volumes. A notable convenience feature called "Music Follows Me" automatically transfers playback to whichever room you enter by simply pressing the Moment button on the nearest speaker.
Streaming and voice support#
The speakers support major music services including Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and Roon Ready. Amazon Alexa Plus subscribers on Cove speakers gain voice-activated smart home control. Each unit also includes Bluetooth for direct mobile device connection and can integrate with JBL's Bar Series MK2 soundbars to expand into a complete home theater setup.
