OpenAI Acquires NextSlide, Presentation Software Startup, to Bolster ChatGPT
OpenAI has brought on NextSlide, a startup focused on AI-powered presentation creation, in an acquisition announced months after the deal closed.
TechCrunch — AI
OpenAI has completed the acquisition of NextSlide, a presentation software startup whose technology converts text prompts, notes, and documents into polished, editable slides. The team is now part of OpenAI's ChatGPT division.
The Deal and NextSlide's Mission#
NextSlide's founder Ahmed Beshry outlined the startup's original focus: enabling users to "turn prompts, notes, documents, or research into a polished, editable presentation." The company's broader objective centered on democratizing visual communication, according to Beshry, by helping people convey ideas with clarity and polish.
By integrating with OpenAI, the team will "continue pursuing that same mission: building AI products that help people create, communicate, and turn their ideas into meaningful work," Beshry explained in his announcement.
Timing and Financial Details#
The acquisition was finalized earlier in 2026, though the public announcement came several months later. OpenAI did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction.
Beshry's Track Record#
Beshry previously co-founded Caper AI, a startup that developed smart shopping carts and cashier-less checkout technology. Instacart acquired Caper AI for $350 million in 2021, marking another successful exit for the entrepreneur.
