Disney Plus to Stream Super Bowl LXI Alongside ABC and ESPN
Disney has confirmed that its streaming service will carry the 2027 Super Bowl, expanding the big game's reach to viewers on multiple platforms.
The Verge
Disney announced this week that Super Bowl LXI will be available to stream on Disney Plus when it airs on February 14th, 2027, marking another milestone in the entertainment giant's push into live sports streaming.
Simultaneous Coverage Across Platforms#
U.S. subscribers to Disney Plus will receive the identical broadcast that airs on traditional television channels ABC and ESPN. The commentary team will feature Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Lisa Salters, and Laura Rutledge, ensuring consistency across all viewing options. Beyond the domestic market, Disney plans to distribute the game to more than 55 additional territories, spanning regions like Latin America, South Africa, and Australia.
Building on Recent Streaming Wins#
This move follows a successful recent precedent: when this year's Super Bowl streamed on NBC's Peacock, it drove substantial new subscriber growth. Disney is clearly betting that offering premium live content will help convert and retain its own subscriber base.
Expanding Football on Disney Plus#
In the lead-up to the championship game, Disney Plus will also broadcast two Monday Night Football contests. The first, scheduled for October 26th, will feature the Dallas Cowboys facing the Philadelphia Eagles; details on the second matchup remain to be announced.
