Musk's AI Wikipedia rival Grokipedia stalled for months without updates
xAI's AI-powered encyclopedia, once touted as superior to Wikipedia, has halted accepting edits since spring.

xAI's Grokipedia, Elon Musk's AI-driven answer to Wikipedia, appears to have stopped accepting new contributions and has gone quiet on public progress for over three months, according to reporting by Lawfare.
Status and scope#
Grokipedia launched its initial release in October 2025 with roughly 885,000 articles and has since expanded to more than 6 million total articles in its v0.2 release last November. The platform's own live activity feed, however, shows "No live edits available right now," suggesting a halt in editorial work.
Editorial activity frozen#
Analysis of roughly 34,000 pages containing over 225,000 user-suggested edits revealed none accepted or rejected in the past three months, Lawfare found. The last confirmed update came on April 24th. While users can still submit article suggestions and edit recommendations, these proposals are not being processed or reviewed.
What happened to Musk's vision?#
When Grokipedia first appeared, Musk promised it would represent a "massive improvement" over Wikipedia's existing model. However, his public attention has moved elsewhere—his most recent social media mention of the project dates to February.
The stalled development has sparked speculation among users on Reddit and X about whether the platform has been abandoned, though xAI has not issued any statement explaining the pause.
