InfoQ opens enrollment for three specialized online certification cohorts beginning September
Three new five-week online programs led by senior technologists cover architecture, engineering leadership, and AI-assisted development with hands-on case work and peer collaboration.
InfoQ
Enrollment is now live for three online certification programs launching this September, each structured as an intensive five-week cohort that brings together senior engineers and architects across organizations to work through real technical challenges.
Three specialized programs#
The offerings span three critical disciplines:
- Architecture: Led by Luca Mezzalira, starting September 14
- Engineering Leadership: Led by Michelle Brush, starting September 18
- AI-Assisted Engineering: Co-led by Zichuan Xiong and Premanand Chandrasekaran, starting September 18
Each cohort meets once weekly for four-hour sessions, combining asynchronous learning with facilitated group work and concluding with a peer-authored capstone project.
How the format works#
The learning model centers on practical application. Participants watch a curated QCon talk beforehand, then use the live session to apply key frameworks to decisions from their own organizations. All work unfolds in small groups of experienced practitioners from different companies—deliberately diverse contexts to broaden perspective. Sessions remain unrecorded to foster candid discussion, and facilitators work directly with groups every week rather than lecturing passively.
Architecture cohort with Mezzalira#
Mezzalira brings two decades of distributed architecture consulting across more than 100 teams. According to Mezzalira, "In the real world, you wait years to see if your architecture was right or wrong. We designed this cohort to shortcut that process."
The curriculum treats architecture as sociotechnical—balancing technical patterns with organizational decision-making, including how to pitch choices to leadership. Topics include decentralized decision-making, platform engineering, adoption strategies, and constraints introduced by AI agents. The capstone requires co-authoring a technical article; the strongest submissions are published on InfoQ. Completion awards the InfoQ Certified Software Architect in Emerging Technologies credential.
