Robot mowers evolve to handle yard edges—Anker and Mammotion launch built-in trimmers
New models from Anker and Mammotion add extendable or attachable edging tools, letting autonomous mowers finish more of the lawn without human intervention.

Robot lawnmowers are gaining a feature that has long required manual work: the ability to trim grass along edges. At IFA 2026, both Anker and Mammotion unveiled machines that tackle this challenge through different approaches.
Anker's integrated solution#
Anker's Eufy Robot Lawn Mower S2 Max features an extendable trimming arm designed to handle grass around driveways, flowerbeds, and other landscape features. The mower uses vSLAM navigation—a camera-based system that builds a 3D map of your yard—eliminating the need for boundary wires or RTK base stations.
The dual-blade machine can cover up to 3.7 acres and navigate slopes as steep as 38 degrees thanks to all-wheel drive. Anker plans to release it in May 2027 priced at €3,999, though US pricing has not yet been announced.
Mammotion's modular approach#
Mammotion's answer comes with the Luba 4 AWD, which uses a removable edge-cutting attachment to trim against walls, fences, and garden borders. Rather than relying solely on cameras, the Luba combines four directional cameras with 360-degree LiDAR and network-based RTK navigation for what the company describes as "zero dead zones and zero drift."
The mower's independent front-wheel steering allows it to change direction without wide turns that might leave visible tracks. Mammotion is offering three capacity levels: the 3000F (0.75 acres) and 6000F (1.5 acres) both support the edging attachment, while the larger 12000F (3 acres) does not. The 3000F and 6000F have a 17.3-inch cutting width, whereas the 12000F spans 20.9 inches. Preorders are expected later this year, with pricing to be confirmed.
Broader trend#
Edging capabilities are becoming standard across the autonomous mowing category. Competitors including Segway, Ecovacs, , and others have already adopted edge-trimming technology, signaling that finishing work around perimeters may soon be one less chore for homeowners managing automated lawn care.
