Uzbek Language Game Platform Pairs AI With Digital Wordnet Resource
Researchers propose an educational gaming system that combines generative AI with lexical datasets to teach Uzbek while simultaneously improving the language's digital vocabulary resources.
A research team has outlined an educational platform that teaches Uzbek language learners through gameplay while leveraging generative AI to support instruction and simultaneously strengthen digital language resources.
System Design and Components#
The architecture integrates UzWordnet—a structured lexical database for Uzbek—alongside the nation's largest orthographic dictionary. These foundational language resources are paired with generative AI as a core instructional tool, creating a system where technology supports both learner progression and vocabulary resource development in tandem.
Educational Gameplay Approach#
The researchers designed four distinct educational games structured to engage learners in active Uzbek language practice. The game-based methodology serves a dual purpose: it creates an engaging learning environment for students while simultaneously generating valuable feedback that can be used to refine and expand UzWordnet itself. This approach treats gameplay dynamics as a direct source of improvement data for the underlying lexical resource.
Integration of Goals#
The system uniquely bridges educational and linguistic objectives. Rather than treating language learning and resource development as separate endeavors, the design makes them complementary—each gameplay session contributes to both learner advancement and the enrichment of Uzbek's digital vocabulary infrastructure. This integration positions game mechanics as an active tool for lexicographic improvement rather than merely an engagement strategy.
