Wabi Shifts Focus to AI Messenger Platform with Built-in App Creation
The no-code app builder is reimagining itself as a conversational agent that generates custom interfaces on demand, moving away from standalone app creation tools.

Wabi, the AI platform that lets users construct applications through natural language prompts, is repositioning itself in response to growing momentum around sophisticated AI agents like Meta's Muse and Instinct. The startup this week unveiled Wabi 2.0, a redesigned experience that operates as an intelligent messenger capable of dynamically generating purpose-built interfaces as users request them.
From Builder to Agent#
Founder Eugenia Kuyda, who previously led the AI companion startup Replika, characterizes Wabi 2.0 as "a personal agent that does stuff for you and builds the interface you need in the moment." While the underlying capability—using AI to construct custom tools—remains the same, the interaction model is fundamentally different. Rather than competing in the no-code application space, Wabi now targets the growing segment of conversational agents that blend chat with productive workflows.
This pivot aligns with broader industry trends. OpenAI revealed at its Dev Day this week that ChatGPT's plugin system will enable apps to offer interactive experiences directly within the chatbot, with enhanced visibility on the sidebar.
Why Chat Alone Isn't Enough#
Kuyda argues that text-only agent interfaces degrade over time as conversation histories accumulate. In her framing, users desire more than typing—they want tapping, scrolling, and visual interaction. The most compelling agent, she suggests, is one that marries conversational ability with proper software design.
The platform allows users to organize app creation around topics or life domains. For example, in a health-focused conversation thread, an agent might generate a calorie tracker, weight log, or fitness journal on request. In a family context, it could spawn a kids' activity calendar, language learning tool, or event finder. "Your agent, your apps, and your people in one place" is how Kuyda describes the vision.
Availability#
Wabi 2.0 is currently available only through invite codes distributed via X (formerly Twitter).
