Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones hit lowest price of $198 during Labor Day sale
The noise-cancelling over-ears drop to their best price yet ahead of Labor Day, with no Prime membership required.

Sony is running a week-long Labor Day promotion that includes a major discount on the WH-1000XM5 headphones, bringing them down to $198 at Amazon and Best Buy. This marks a $50 price cut from the usual $250 range and matches the lowest price point from Prime Day earlier in the summer—with the added benefit that a Prime subscription is not required this time.
Why these headphones still matter#
Released in 2022, the XM5 remain competitive despite their age. They deliver excellent sound quality and active noise cancelling capabilities in a comfortable over-ear design. While Sony's newer XM6 model from 2025 provides incremental improvements to audio performance and noise isolation—plus the return of a compact folding form factor—the XM5 continue to offer strong value at this price point. Sony is also rumored to be reviving the XM4 model with a lower entry price, though it's unlikely to undercut the current XM5 discount.
Other tech deals worth watching#
Nintendo Switch 2 availability is diminishing fast. Today marks the final opportunity to purchase the console at its original $449.99 price; starting September 1st, the base model will jump to $499.99, with bundles launching later this fall reaching up to $549.99. While not technically a sale, buying before the increase goes into effect is smart planning, especially given the premium pricing on Nintendo's new controllers and accessories. The system is stocked at Amazon and Best Buy. Alternatively, discounted Nintendo gift cards are available through Newegg and Costco.
