Agility Robotics, a humanoid robotics startup founded from Oregon State University, is pursuing a path to public markets through a merger with special purpose acquisition company Churchill Capital Corp XI, according to reporting from the company.
The transaction values Agility at approximately $2.5 billion and is expected to generate more than $620 million in gross proceeds, with around $200 million coming from institutional investors.
Digit in the field#
The company's flagship product, Digit—a bipedal robot—is already being deployed across nine customer locations. These include partnerships with auto supplier Schaeffler, logistics firm GXO, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, and e-commerce platform Mercado Libre.
Agility has attracted backing from major tech names including Amazon, Nvidia, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, and DCVC.
Capital for scale#
The company plans to deploy the SPAC proceeds toward ramping production of its next-generation Digit v5, executing on existing orders, and reaching additional customers. Agility reports it has already secured more than $300 million in multi-year orders for the new model, with a pipeline of over 30 potential customers in evaluation stages.
"With commercially deployed humanoids already operating in customer environments today, Agility is helping enterprises address labor shortages, improve efficiency, and safely integrate AI-powered automation into their operations," said CEO Peggy Johnson.
The combined company is expected to trade under ticker AGLT on a North American stock exchange to be announced.
