Monday.com cuts 630 jobs to bet harder on AI-driven workplace platform
The Israeli work software company is eliminating 20% of its workforce to accelerate investment in its AI Work Platform and reshape its product strategy around AI agents.

Workplace software firm Monday.com is trimming its payroll by 630 employees—a fifth of its total staff—as part of a broader corporate restructuring aimed at channeling resources toward artificial intelligence initiatives.
The company plans to operate with a more streamlined organizational structure, with its AI Work Platform positioned as the centerpiece of future growth. The overhaul will cost Monday.com between $45 million and $55 million in restructuring charges.
Shifting strategy around AI#
Monday.com made the pivot to AI-centric product development earlier this year, reimagining how its enterprise clients use the platform. The revised approach assumes that large organizations increasingly prefer having AI agents work alongside human staff rather than replacing them entirely. The AI Work Platform now bundles together a no-code application builder, a configurable AI agent, workflow automation capabilities, and a conversational interface capable of handling tasks such as report generation and dashboard updates.
Joining a broader wave#
Monday.com is far from alone in making workforce cuts to fund AI development. Large technology firms across the industry have eliminated hundreds of thousands of positions as they race to expand artificial intelligence capabilities. May 2026 marked the highest monthly job loss total in years, and nearly four-fifths of companies conducting layoffs have cited a strategic need to prioritize AI investments, according to data from Layoffs.fyi.
More than 122,000 technology positions have been eliminated across the sector so far in 2026.
