Anker launches MindBase, a local AI hub that brings on-device processing to your home's security cameras
The new Eufy MindBase acts as a central AI controller for smart home security, running local AI models and storing footage without uploading to the cloud.
The Verge
Anker is unveiling the Eufy MindBase, a local AI processing hub designed to serve as the "central brain" for a connected home. The device runs proprietary Anker-developed artificial intelligence directly on hardware, enabling advanced video analysis of security camera feeds without requiring cloud uploads or monthly subscriptions.
What MindBase Does#
The hub processes footage from Eufy's security cameras using on-device machine learning, allowing homeowners to search recordings by natural language, generate event summaries, and enable smart alerts for facial recognition, people, vehicles, pets, and strangers. The system supports detection via 180-degree dual-radar sensors and can learn household members' identities through digital credentials stored on their phones, reducing false alarms. Storage capacity reaches 48TB and can be expanded further.
Hardware Capabilities and Connectivity#
MindBase serves as a Matter 1.5 controller and works with over 40 Matter device categories spanning lights, sensors, climate systems, and more. It connects to HomeKit Secure Video, Alexa, Google Home, and Home Assistant, bridging Eufy cameras into major smart home ecosystems. The hub features dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread, and Zigbee support, and can manage up to 16 wireless cameras, four wired cameras, and 34 sensors.
New Hardware Companions#
Anker is rolling out several products alongside MindBase. The upcoming TrackLight Cam S1 combines 4K resolution with active deterrence lighting and 180-degree radar detection. The newly available S4 video doorbell ($299.99) offers a 180-by-180 panoramic view with an immersive VR-style mobile experience that lets users pan and explore footage by tilting their smartphone. An indoor window camera, the E10 ($70), uses full-color night vision and on-device person detection for homes without outdoor camera access. A mmWave fall detection sensor, launching later, automatically checks on residents after detected falls and supports two-way communication without requiring a subscription.
Privacy Refocus#
The announcement reflects Anker's shift toward privacy-first design. Following prior controversies over misleading encryption claims, the company has rebuilt its systems around local storage and genuine end-to-end encryption. The MindBase approach—processing AI on-device rather than in the cloud—continues that trajectory.
