Spur raises $200M to help enterprises dodge increasingly sophisticated bot traffic
The cybersecurity firm's bot-detection technology is gaining momentum as artificial intelligence and automated threats overwhelm human activity online.

Spur Intelligence, a Lake Mary, Florida-based cybersecurity company, has secured $200 million in funding from Insight Partners, underscoring growing demand for tools that help organizations separate legitimate users from malicious automated traffic.
The bot problem has reached a critical point#
The timing of this investment reflects an urgent challenge facing enterprise security teams. Earlier this year, Cloudflare reported that bots have surpassed humans as the dominant type of traffic on the internet—a milestone that happened faster than many industry observers anticipated. "Thought it would be end of 2027, then early 2027, but agentic traffic growing so fast that bots have now passed human traffic online for the first time in the Internet's history," Cloudflare founder Matthew Prince noted on X, reflecting the accelerating pace of AI-driven automation.
How Spur helps enterprises see behind the curtain#
Founded in 2017—well before large language models entered the public consciousness—Spur developed technology that cuts through obfuscation tactics. The company's core capability helps enterprises identify the infrastructure powering bot attacks and fraudulent activity, not just the visible traffic itself. As sophisticated VPNs, residential proxy networks, and anonymization layers become increasingly prevalent, organizations face what Insight Partners partner Thomas Krane described as "a critical blind spot: they can see the activity, but not the infrastructure behind it."
Spur's ability to unmask the hidden network infrastructure backing malicious traffic addresses this gap directly, positioning the startup to capitalize on what security teams now view as an existential problem.
