Snap launches Specs Intelligence, a new AI assistant that anticipates your needs across apps
The company is introducing a personal AI service that learns from your connected accounts to help manage work and travel tasks—arriving on iOS now and Mac soon.

Snap has unveiled Specs Intelligence, an AI assistant designed to learn your priorities and routines by connecting to your existing digital accounts, then proactively surface information and suggest actions when they're most useful. The tool positions itself as an alternative to similar offerings from Meta and Google, but with a focus on anticipation rather than just conversation.
How It Works#
Specs Intelligence builds a profile of your goals, relationships, and daily patterns by pulling data from apps you authorize—like Gmail and Slack. Rather than waiting for you to ask questions, the service is built to recognize opportune moments to offer help: before a meeting, it might flag decisions to make or details to review; ahead of a trip, it could consolidate flight, hotel, and dinner reservations while alerting you to conflicting work deadlines.
When used with Snap's new Specs augmented reality glasses, the AI can display relevant information directly in your field of view—for instance, showing a morning briefing as you prepare for work. The service is designed to maintain this personal context across devices and refine its understanding over time.
Privacy and Data Handling#
Snap's team emphasizes that Specs Intelligence cannot access or view the personal content users share with it. The company also commits that connected account data will not train or fine-tune its AI models, nor will it feed personalized advertising. According to Snap, the service relies on "a proprietary combination of open-source models hosted in the US alongside local LLMs."
Still, granting an AI system access to sensitive information across multiple services remains a significant trust hurdle—one that users have found unsettling with comparable tools from larger tech companies.
Availability#
Specs Intelligence is available in preview on iOS now, with a waitlist open for the full early-access version coming to Mac. The assistant is being rolled out alongside Snap's consumer Specs AR glasses, though it operates independently on standard devices.
