Perplexity brings AI agent capabilities to Windows PCs
The AI search company's Personal Computer tool now lets Windows users automate tasks across their files, Office apps, and the web.

Perplexity has extended its agentic AI tool to Windows, enabling PCs running the dominant operating system to function as locally managed AI assistants. The Personal Computer feature works similarly to its Mac counterpart launched in April, acting as an autonomous digital worker that can read local files and integrate with applications to carry out tasks—from drafting documents to updating spreadsheets—on a user's behalf.
How it works#
The Windows version integrates with the local environment to access files, Microsoft Office 365 applications, and web-based resources. Rather than relying on cloud systems, the tool operates directly within Windows, letting users coordinate their AI assistant across all three layers of their typical workflow in a single interface. According to Perplexity, "Now Microsoft users can ask Computer to work across their local files, Microsoft Office 365, and the web in one place," addressing the practical reality that much enterprise work remains locally stored and inaccessible to remote AI systems.
Rolling out now#
Perplexity Personal Computer for Windows is becoming available immediately to subscribers on the Max and Enterprise Max plans, which start at $200 per month. The release builds on earlier integrations the company shipped for Microsoft 365 tools and Teams in May, completing what Perplexity positioned as the final step to bring agentic capabilities where most corporate users actually work.
Safety and privacy#
The company emphasizes that the system does not use company data for training. Additionally, Perplexity has built in safeguards that prompt users before the agent executes sensitive operations—such as sending emails or deleting files—to prevent unintended consequences.
