Crusoe valued at $30B after securing $3B funding round
The AI infrastructure developer and data center builder adds major capital as it scales operations for hyperscale customers and explores a potential IPO.
TechCrunch — AI
Crusoe, a developer of specialized data center infrastructure for artificial intelligence workloads, has closed a $3 billion financing round at a $30 billion valuation, according to Bloomberg reporting. The round trebles the company's valuation from just ten months prior.
Major investors and strategic positioning#
Atreides Management and Valor Equity Partners are leading the investment, with additional backing from Mubadala Capital, the investment arm of the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund. The fresh capital lands as Crusoe has established itself as a critical supplier to major technology firms—Meta, Microsoft, and OpenAI all rely on its infrastructure.
Major client contracts drive growth#
Crusoe's momentum reflects concrete commercial traction. The firm recently locked in a landmark five-year agreement with Jane Street, a quantitative trading company, worth roughly $13 billion to supply GPUs and AI computing resources. This deal signals confidence in Crusoe's ability to deliver at scale for demanding enterprise customers.
Evolution from mining to AI infrastructure#
Founded in 2018 as a cryptocurrency mining venture powered by flared natural gas, Crusoe has transformed into a leading builder of large-scale data center campuses. The company now focuses on constructing hyperscale facilities for established players including Oracle and OpenAI, positioning itself at the center of the AI infrastructure boom.
IPO prospects on the horizon#
Crusoe's rapid capital raise and rising valuation align with reports that the company has recently engaged major investment banks including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase, and Bank of America to explore an initial public offering in the near term, Axios reported in August.
