At its latest launch event under new leadership, Apple debuted a foldable smartphone, upgraded Pro phones, next-gen wearables, and advanced on-device AI capabilities.

Apple's latest hardware event marked the company's first iPhone launch led by CEO John Ternus, delivering a portfolio refresh anchored by the long-awaited foldable iPhone Duo and expanded artificial intelligence integration across its ecosystem.
The iPhone Duo: Apple's Answer to Foldables#
The signature reveal was the iPhone Duo, a passport-style foldable device that opens flat to reveal dual displays. The inner screen measures 7.6 inches while the outer display reaches 5.4 inches, both maintaining consistent aspect ratios for seamless app experience. Apple positions it as its "thinnest iPhone yet" and has engineered the display with a nanotexture finish to minimize glare.
The device houses an A20 Pro chip, Apple's own C2 cellular modem, and a 48-megapixel camera system. Battery performance reaches up to 31 hours of video playback across its dual-battery configuration. Apple Pencil support arrives later this year, while Touch ID integrates into the side button. Pricing begins at $1,999, with availability slated for October 23rd in pearl white and night blue colorways.
iOS 27 accommodates the new form factor with features allowing side-by-side app viewing, video pinning, and flexible device orientations. Major apps including Netflix, Zoom, and Slack have already developed tailored updates.
Pro iPhone 18 Gains Camera and AI Upgrades#
Apple skipped its base iPhone model this year, focusing instead on two Pro variants that emphasize photographic capabilities. Both the iPhone 18 Pro ($1,199) and Pro Max ($1,299, with new 2TB storage) incorporate a 48-megapixel main camera with variable aperture and new "Pro Controls" for granular settings adjustment—improvements Apple calls its "biggest camera advancement in years."
Performance scaling accelerates via the A20 chip, while battery claims reach 36 hours for the Pro and 45 hours for the Pro Max. The redesigned Dynamic Island now displays three simultaneous live activities. Both models deploy Apple's most capable on-device AI model, powering an enhanced Siri capable of interacting with over 300,000 apps. Launch timing: September 18th in black, silver, burgundy, and glacier finishes.
AirPods and Watch Embrace Active Noise and Health Monitoring#
Apple democratized noise cancellation by bringing active noise cancellation (ANC) to its entry-level AirPods 5 ($129), promising 50 percent more noise reduction than prior generations. The standard model delivers four hours of listening with ANC; a premium $149 variant adds on-stem volume control, five hours of ANC runtime, and wireless charging. Both arrive September 18th.
