Calendly launches AI meeting note-taker to compete in crowded productivity space
The scheduling platform is adding transcription, meeting summaries, and an AI assistant called Callie to streamline workflows for sales and marketing teams.

Calendly is making a move into the increasingly contested market for AI-powered meeting tools, launching its own note-taking product to help professionals capture and act on meeting insights automatically.
The New Product#
Calendly's note-taker captures meeting audio and video, transcribes the conversation, and then generates summaries, extracts action items, and drafts follow-up emails—features now standard among competitors. The platform is also exploring a system-audio transcription capability similar to Granola.
Beyond transcription, Calendly plans to introduce Callie, an AI assistant that leverages the company's existing calendar and scheduling infrastructure. Callie would autonomously handle meeting setup, check participant availability, and retrieve context from prior conversations—a feature comparable to the email-based assistant that Read AI unveiled earlier this year.
Target Audience#
CEO Tope Awotona framed the product as addressing a specific pain point: professionals in customer-facing roles, particularly in sales and marketing, who spend much of their day navigating back-to-back meetings. The goal is to automate the manual work that occurs after calls end—a gap Awotona believes most competitors haven't adequately filled.
Intense Competition#
The meeting-notes category is already crowded. Specialized tools like Granola, Fireflies, Read AI, Otter, and Fathom dominate one side of the market, while broader productivity suites from Notion, ClickUp, and Wispr have integrated similar capabilities into their platforms.
