AWS partners with Superblocks to embed AI app-building in enterprise private clouds
The cloud giant backs a vibe-coding startup, signaling a broader shift toward keeping AI models and tools within customer control rather than relying on external AI labs.

Superblocks, a startup that lets non-technical business users build applications through conversational prompts, has secured a multi-year marketing and integration deal with Amazon Web Services. The partnership allows AWS customers to deploy Superblocks' tools within their own private cloud infrastructure, ensuring data remains fully contained and never exits to external AI providers or third-party databases.
Data stays inside the firewall#
Under the arrangement, companies subscribing to Superblocks on AWS will be able to provision Amazon Aurora databases for their generated applications rather than relying on external alternatives like Supabase. The apps integrate with Amazon Bedrock, AWS's inference platform, and operate under IT management and security protocols rather than functioning as unsanctioned shadow tools. According to Superblocks co-founder Brad Menezes, "data never leaves" the customer's AWS account, with full encryption, auditing, and network controls maintained throughout.
A broader shift away from vendor lock-in#
The deal reflects a larger industry movement in which hyperscale cloud providers encourage enterprises to choose multiple AI models instead of betting everything on a single frontier lab like OpenAI or Anthropic. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has been particularly vocal on this front in recent weeks, warning companies that relying on one model risks both cost overruns and competitive vulnerability.
Enterprise adoption patterns support this shift. Open-weight models—particularly from Chinese sources—now account for roughly 30% of traffic through Vercel's popular AI gateway, a jump from near-zero demand 60 days prior. Menezes notes the dramatic reversal: enterprises are rapidly pivoting from single-model strategies toward diversified portfolios spanning OpenAI, Anthropic, and open-source alternatives.
Why it matters for Superblocks#
The 50-person company, which raised $60 million in its Series A announced in May 2025, gains a major distribution channel and credibility boost from AWS backing. AWS will actively help market Superblocks to its enterprise customer base. However, the deeper significance lies in the signal it sends: hyperscalers now view vibe-coding tools for business users as essential enterprise infrastructure, comparable to their earlier support for AI coding agents aimed at developers.
