1Password lets Claude automate logins without exposing your credentials
A new integration lets Anthropic's AI handle tasks like travel booking by accessing stored passwords through a secure channel that keeps your credentials hidden.

Users can now authorize Claude to complete complex multi-step tasks—such as booking flights or managing accounts—by granting the AI temporary access to their 1Password vault, without exposing actual passwords or security codes to Anthropic's servers.
The integration works through what 1Password calls a "zero-exposure security framework." Rather than passing credentials directly to Claude, the system injects usernames, passwords, and authentication codes into form fields through a secure channel that the AI cannot view or intercept. This means Claude can use your login details without ever seeing them.
How the security model works#
The approach treats each task as a discrete permission grant. When Claude needs to access a credential, 1Password:
- Requires explicit user approval via biometric authentication for each task
- Encrypts and injects only the credentials necessary for that specific action
- Scans the completed form to confirm no sensitive data remains exposed
- Automatically locks the vault once the task completes, restricting access to only what was authorized
"The moment an AI agent takes control of the browser, 1Password locks down automatically, limiting access to only the credentials explicitly granted for the current task," the company noted in its announcement.
Current scope and roadmap#
Initially, the feature supports login credentials—usernames, passwords, and two-factor authentication codes. The company plans to extend support for payment cards and identity information (like addresses) following the launch. Users can store additional information in 1Password vaults including API tokens and personal details.
Availability and requirements#
The integration is available now for 1Password subscribers on Mac across individual, family, and business plans. Using it requires both the 1Password desktop and browser extensions, as well as Claude's desktop and browser applications.
