General Intuition raises at $6 billion valuation with backing from Valor and Point72
The AI robotics startup is doubling its valuation in months as major investors bet on its approach to teaching machines to understand physical space.

General Intuition, a New York-based AI startup focused on building foundation models for autonomous agents in physical environments, is raising fresh capital at a $6 billion valuation, according to people with knowledge of the deal. The round includes prominent new backers such as Valor Equity Partners, Point72 Ventures, and Seven Seven Six, while existing supporters Khosla Ventures and General Catalyst are also participating.
The funding comes just weeks after the startup raised $320 million at a $2.3 billion valuation—representing a roughly three-fold leap in valuation in a compressed timeframe and underscoring investor appetite for the sector.
The Foundation Model Behind It All#
CEO Pim de Witte founded General Intuition last year by spinning out from Medal, a video game clip-sharing platform he previously led. The pivot capitalized on a unique asset: hundreds of millions of hours of recorded gameplay paired with "action labels"—detailed metadata documenting which buttons players pressed and when. De Witte recognized this dataset as a potential training ground for AI systems learning to navigate and act within complex, dynamic environments.
Prominent investor Vinod Khosla has argued that such action labels are critical to achieving what he calls the "emergence of intuition"—enabling AI models to generalize across unfamiliar tasks without explicit training.
Pushing Into Robotics#
The company plans to deploy the new capital primarily on robotics-focused applications. Key priorities include expanding computational resources (the startup partners with CoreWeave on infrastructure) and recruiting additional engineering and research talent to refine its core model for controlling robotic systems.
The round is still being finalized, and a source indicated the company is oversubscribed, with ongoing investor interest. Valor Equity Partners, historically known for backing SpaceX, would be marking its first investment in an AI laboratory if it confirms participation in this round.
