Nscale lines up $3.36B ahead of US listing as AI data center race intensifies
The British neocloud provider has secured convertible financing led by Third Point and Nvidia, positioning itself for a $35 billion IPO valuation later this year.
TechCrunch — AI
British neocloud operator Nscale has closed a $3.36 billion convertible financing round in preparation for its planned US listing this year. The investment underscores how much capital the industry now demands to compete in the infrastructure-heavy AI market.
Funding structure and timeline#
Third Point, a prominent hedge fund, leads the financing while chip maker Nvidia chips in $1 billion of the total. The company will receive $2.36 billion immediately, with Nvidia's contribution arriving in mid-November. Upon IPO completion, the convertible notes will transform into equity shares.
IPO plans and valuation#
Nscale filed its IPO registration last week. The company is targeting a valuation around $35 billion on the NYSE and aims to raise approximately $3 billion through the public offering itself, according to market reports.
Track record and growth#
Two years after being spun out of Australian cryptocurrency mining firm Arkon Energy, Nscale has accumulated more than $103 billion in signed contracts. The company is now constructing multiple large-scale data center campuses, with projects underway in Norway and West Virginia among others.
The financing round reflects intensifying competition in the AI infrastructure space, where massive computational capacity is essential to support the expanding deployment of large language models and other AI systems.
