Meta unveils Muse Charm, a pocket-sized standalone AI assistant shipping this year
Mark Zuckerberg revealed a dedicated hardware device for Meta's new Muse AI agent that runs without needing a smartphone.
The Verge
Meta is developing Muse Charm, a independent hardware gadget designed to run its newly unveiled Muse AI agent. The device, displayed briefly by CEO Mark Zuckerberg during Meta Connect, resembles a compact smartwatch stripped of its band — essentially a sizeable screen paired with a lanyard for portability.
Design and core features#
The Charm features a fingerprint sensor positioned on the upper right that users tap to activate voice interaction with the AI. The gadget includes an integrated camera and appears to have multiple microphone inputs on its face. Because it operates as a standalone product, users can engage with the AI without retrieving a phone or launching an app.
Zuckerberg hinted at an aesthetic inspired by consumer electronics tinkering, with plans for a see-through casing that exposes the internal components. He described this design philosophy as reflecting an "elevated hacker aesthetic."
Release timeline and current status#
The device is targeted for launch during the December holiday season, though Meta has only manufactured a limited number of prototypes at present. The company still needs to finalize materials and construction details before broader production. Zuckerberg indicated that further specifications would be disclosed in the coming weeks.
