FL Studio 2026 upgrades Gopher AI to actually produce music alongside you
The DAW's AI assistant now executes production commands in real time, though it still has gaps when it comes to melodic arrangement and automation.

Image Line has evolved Gopher, the AI assistant bundled with FL Studio, from a helpful reference tool into an active collaborator that can carry out production tasks on your behalf. Rather than simply directing you to instructions, Gopher now responds to natural-language requests by making changes to your project in real time.
What Gopher can do now#
The upgraded assistant can handle practical studio work. Users can ask it to construct drum patterns—such as laying down a four-on-the-floor kick with snares hitting the backbeat—and Gopher will build that arrangement. It can also apply effects like adding gated reverb to a snare to capture a vintage '80s aesthetic, executing these moves with precision.
Current limitations#
Gopher's capabilities don't yet cover the full production toolkit. The AI cannot generate or draw automation curves, insert notes or chords into melodic tracks, or select individual presets from instrument plugins. This means while it can create a channel with FL Studio's revamped Flex instrument, you'll still need to hunt down a Rhodes piano patch manually.
Other FL Studio 2026 improvements#
Beyond Gopher's upgrade, the release overhauled Flex, Image Line's omnibus virtual instrument (comparable to Native Instruments Kontakt). The engine is now significantly more efficient with system resources, and the preset browser features sharper filtering and genre-based organization. For FL Cloud subscribers, automatic cloud backups of projects are now available, and a new "audio logger" passively records up to 60 seconds of your master output, allowing you to capture spontaneous ideas even if you forgot to press record.
Image Line confirmed that user data won't be used to train the AI, keeping recording sessions private. The update arrives as a free upgrade for existing FL Studio users.
