Plaud One converts earbuds into AI-powered voice recorder with 4G connectivity
The new Plaud One earbuds can capture, transcribe, and summarize conversations via built-in cellular and AI processing, now available for preorder at $249.99.
The Verge
Plaud has unveiled a new wearable device that transforms earbuds into a hands-free voice recording and transcription system. The Plaud One Explorer Edition functions both as traditional earbuds and through a companion charging case, combining audio capture with on-device AI for real-time processing of conversations.
Built-in Cellular and Extended Recording#
Unlike many AI recording devices that depend on smartphone connectivity, the Plaud One's charging case integrates 4G cellular, allowing the earbuds to upload and process audio independently of Wi-Fi or a paired device. Each earbud carries 16MB of storage (32MB combined), with dual units capable of capturing audio from up to two meters away. The charging case itself operates as a secondary recording device, featuring four microphones that can pick up voices from a five-meter range and maintaining 512MB of storage capacity. Battery performance extends to six hours of continuous recording on the earbuds, while the case extends total usage to approximately 36 hours before requiring a USB-C recharge.
AI-Driven Features and Smart Integration#
The earbuds' transcription and summarization rely on Plaud Intelligence, which the company describes as technology built to "understand and execute on human intent." A dedicated AI button activates Plaud Agent, a native connector that links directly to Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion, and Slack—eliminating the friction of toggling between different applications. The earbuds also include active noise cancellation and stem-mounted force sensors for intuitive control.
Availability and Pricing#
The Plaud One costs $249.99 and is now taking preorders in select markets, with the first shipments anticipated in late September.
