Mova's V70 Ultra reaches under kitchen furniture with articulating mop arm
The latest robot vacuum from Mova adds a robotic arm that extends nearly seven inches to clean beneath stools and chairs where traditional vacuums get stuck.
The Verge
Robot vacuums have transformed floor cleaning, but they struggle in certain spots—notably stairs and areas crowded with furniture. The real challenge, though, lies in those hard-to-reach zones under kitchen stools and dining chairs where crumbs and dust accumulate and traditional robot designs simply can't maneuver.
A Solution for Cramped Spaces#
Mova's new V70 Ultra Complete ($1,299.99) tackles this exact problem with a novel approach: an articulating robotic mop arm that extends roughly seven inches from the robot's body, paired with a side brush that stretches an additional five inches outward. During testing, the combination proved effective at navigating tight spaces. The unit cleared dust bunnies from beneath kitchen counter seating in about five minutes on maximum suction, reaching along stool legs and edges where conventional robots would leave debris untouched. Its 42,000Pa suction power and dual roller brushes handle the vacuum work while the arm mop tackles stubborn grime near baseboards, appliances, and corners.
Building on Proven Technology#
Mova, owned by Dreame, drew inspiration from the company's earlier innovation—mop pads that angle outward from beneath the robot to better clean along edges. The V70 elevates this concept significantly. Dreame itself showed a more ambitious version of the technology on the X60 Pro, featuring what appears to be a larger mop and greater arm dexterity, though it hasn't yet reached the U.S. market.
What's Included#
The V70 ships with a multifunction base station that handles mop cleaning, drying, and bin emptying without relying on disposable bags—users simply empty a reusable canister. Navigation relies on lidar combined with cameras for obstacle detection, and the unit can climb over thresholds up to 3.5 inches while automatically removing mops when transitioning to carpeted areas.
The Tradeoff#
At $1,300, the V70 ranks among Mova's pricier offerings, though its build quality falls short of Dreame's $1,500 X60 Max Ultra Complete flagship. For anyone battling perpetually grimy floors beneath tables and counters, however, the compact footprint and specialized mopping capability offer a meaningful practical advantage.
