Apple releases iOS 27 with redesigned Siri AI and fresh design tweaks
Apple's next iPhone software update brings an overhauled AI assistant and visual refreshes, rolling out this month across English-speaking regions initially.

Apple is rolling out iOS 27 on September 14th, delivering what the company positions as its most significant Siri upgrade in years. The centerpiece is Siri AI, a delayed AI-powered reimagining of the voice assistant that launches initially in beta form for English-only users. International support will follow in October, with Apple planning to add French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Visual and interface overhauls#
Beyond the assistant redesign, iOS 27 introduces a suite of refinements to the iPhone's look and feel. A new Liquid Glass opacity slider gives users granular control over whether their interface appears crystal clear or maintains a frosted aesthetic. The built-in app ecosystem receives subtle visual treatment as well, with refreshed icon designs and revised color palettes that mark a modest evolution rather than a dramatic overhaul.
New customization and control options#
The update expands user choice in several practical areas. Extra-large widgets arrive to accommodate more information on home screens, while a new Lock Screen option allows users to shrink the time display dramatically. Audio preferences gain new granularity—users can now set separate volume levels for ringtones, alarms, timers, alerts, and system sounds rather than using a single slider.

The full feature set launches Monday as part of the broader iOS 27 rollout.
