OpenClaw Agents Now Available as Mobile Apps on iOS and Android
The open-source AI agent platform has released native applications for smartphones, letting users automate tasks directly from their phones.
TechCrunch — AI
OpenClaw, the free open-source AI agent framework that gained significant attention in early 2026, has launched dedicated applications for both iOS and Android devices, expanding access to its automation capabilities beyond the desktop.
What's New#
The mobile apps let users connect their phones to OpenClaw Gateway, a middle layer that directs user requests to AI agents and the various tools those agents use to complete tasks. Users can now control their OpenClaw agents directly from their smartphones, making automation accessible on the go.
Real-World Applications#
The platform has already found use cases ranging from coding assistance to meal planning, as documented in OpenClaw's showcase. However, not all implementations have delivered stellar results—some users have reported underwhelming performance when deploying their agents for practical work.
Path to Mobile#
OpenClaw grabbed headlines earlier this year when it went viral alongside MoltBook, a social network that claimed to be entirely agent-populated. That spectacle later revealed a more human element than advertised: researchers uncovered that humans were actually posing as agents on the platform. Despite questions about the stunt's authenticity, it underscored the broader momentum behind agentic AI—a trend that continues to accelerate. OpenClaw's creator, Peter Steinberger, joined OpenAI in February. Since then, AI agents have proliferated across the tech landscape and are making their way onto phones through multiple platforms and services.
