Eight Sleep's Pod 6 shrinks the cooling hub and adds 18 sensors for smarter sleep tracking
The company's latest intelligent sleep system trades the bulky cooling hardware for a compact design while doubling down on health monitoring capabilities.
The Verge
Eight Sleep has unveiled its Pod 6 intelligent sleep system, featuring a dramatically redesigned cooling hub that can now tuck discreetly under your bed. The new generation represents what the company describes as its "most significant hardware launch to date," combining a smaller footprint with enhanced performance and more detailed biometric tracking.
A Slimmer, Faster Cooling System#
The centerpiece of the Pod 6 overhaul is a control hub rebuilt entirely from the ground up. Eight Sleep re-engineered the electrical, mechanical, and software components in tandem, shrinking the device to half its previous size. Despite being smaller, the system performs better—it now adjusts mattress temperature 20 percent faster by circulating temperature-controlled water through the cover, helping users find their ideal sleep environment throughout the night.
Pricing and Configuration Options#
Availability begins through Eight Sleep's online store, with the standard Pod 6 priced between $2,699 (queen and full sizes) and $2,999 (king and California king). The company also introduced a new Solo option for single sleepers—a half-mattress cover priced at $1,999, marking the first time Eight Sleep has offered this configuration.
Subscribers must budget for an annual software subscription ranging from $199 to $399 per year for two sleepers, which unlocks the AI-powered Autopilot feature. The system integrates with Eight Sleep's optional accessories, including a $999 cooling pillow cover.
Major Leap in Sleep and Health Monitoring#
The Pod 6 quintuples its sensor count from the prior Pod 5 model, jumping from 2 biometric sensors to 18. This expanded array can capture heart rate, heart rate variability, breathing rate, sleep stage transitions, and snoring detection for two individuals, whether sharing a bed or sleeping on opposite sides. The system's intelligence extends to recognizing whether sleepers are adults, children, or pets.
All collected data feeds Eight Sleep's Autopilot algorithm, which automatically fine-tunes bed temperature throughout the night based on each person's real-time metrics—removing the need for manual adjustment and aiming to improve overall sleep quality without intervention.
