Graphify Transforms Codebases Into AI-Queryable Knowledge Graphs for Smarter Software Engineering
An open-source tool launched in April 2026 converts repositories, documentation, and unstructured data into searchable graph structures to enhance large language model awareness across complex code systems.

The Challenge of Code Context#
Modern AI coding assistants struggle when working across large, interdependent codebases. Language models typically treat repositories as unstructured pools of text, failing to maintain awareness of cross-file dependencies and architectural relationships. This limitation creates friction for developers relying on AI agents to understand complex systems at scale.
How Graphify Works#
Graphify addresses this by converting codebases—along with their documentation and supporting materials—into structured, navigable knowledge graphs. The tool operates through a multi-stage pipeline: it scans target directories, extracts syntactic elements using tree-sitter parsers, enriches them with semantic information from documentation, then builds unified graphs that are clustered using community detection algorithms. The resulting graph can be queried directly or integrated with AI assistants via Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers.
The approach delivers meaningful token reduction compared to naive file-scanning methods, making it possible for AI agents to maintain far richer awareness of repository structure while respecting context-window limits.
Rapid Development and Recent Enhancements#
Launched under MIT and Apache-2.0 dual licensing in April 2026, Graphify gained thousands of GitHub stars within ten days. The project maintains a brisk release cycle with updates appearing multiple times monthly.
Recent improvements have focused on parser sophistication and accuracy:
- Multi-language support: Advanced Terraform block attribute handling, split impl block support for Rust generics, external receiver tracking for Kotlin, and scope-qualified static call routing for C++
- Documentation integration: Smart Markdown code span tracking that links inline documentation directly to code symbols
- Dependency mapping: Embedded script indexing within PHP files and cleaner subpath package import handling
The tool runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux, installable via uv.
