LinkedIn Rolls Out Dedicated Button to Flag AI-Generated Content
The professional network is stepping up efforts to combat artificial content flooding its platform with new reporting tools and algorithmic filters.

LinkedIn is giving users a direct way to surface what it sees as low-quality, machine-written posts. The social platform has introduced a "Seems like AI slop" button that appears in the three-dot menu on individual posts, letting people flag content they suspect was generated or heavily augmented by AI tools.
The Problem Getting Worse#
The move responds to mounting evidence that artificially generated material is swamping LinkedIn's feed. Analysis from Pangram, an AI detection tool, found that roughly 41 percent of longer posts on the platform were flagged as being fully AI-generated, according to reporting from 404Media. This influx of automated content is diluting the quality of professional discussions that the network is meant to facilitate.
How the Solution Works#
When users flag a post using the new button, LinkedIn hides it from their view and confirms receipt of the feedback. The company plans to use this crowdsourced data to refine its detection models and improve what appears in both suggested content and posts from users outside a person's immediate network.
LinkedIn's chief product officer stated in a post that "AI slop is a top priority for all of us." Beyond the reporting button, the platform is building stronger classifiers designed to identify posts that are either AI-generated or simply low-quality, with the goal of reducing exposure to such material.
Additional Changes#
LinkedIn is also ditching a feature that used AI to "enhance" posts—a tool that would rewrite or modify user submissions. It will be replaced with one that checks grammar and clarity while preserving the original voice and intent of the author. The company is additionally testing a transparency feature that would signal to posters when their content is perceived by others as inauthentic or heavily reliant on AI.
