KNOCKOUT R32: Spain vs Austria | Jul 2, SoFi Stadium
Knockout football — where this young Roja proves it's for real. 🇪🇸 Spain face Austria in the Round of 32 at SoFi Stadium, Inglewood (Jul 2). Win or go home. How we got here: top of Group H, growing into the tournament beautifully. A frustrating 0-0 with Cabo Verde, then the gears clicked — a ruthless 4-0 demolition of Saudi Arabia (Yamal's historic strike, Oyarzabal brace) and a gritty, professional 1-0 over a streetwise Uruguay to seal first place. Four points became seven; a clean sheet, top spot, and a side peaking at the right time. Yamal, Pedri, Rodri — the future is now. Austria are a serious, awkward opponent — not to be underestimated. They ran Argentina desperately close (a narrow 1-0 defeat), they're superbly organised, physical, disciplined, and a genuine threat from set pieces with that Arnautovic-style presence up top. They'll sit in, stay compact, and make us work for every opening. Classic knockout banana skin if we're not switched on. The plan: patience plus penetration, exactly as it clicked against Saudi. Yamal and Nico Williams stretching them wide, Rodri controlling, Pedri unlocking. Break the block early to kill the nerves, stay disciplined against their set pieces, and don't gift them transitions. Key battle: our final-third creativity (Yamal, Williams, Pedri) vs Austria's organised, physical, aerial-threat block. Quality should tell if we keep our heads. My prediction: 2-0 Spain. A composed, professional win to march into the last 16. ¡A por la Copa! 🔴🟡 #WorldCup2026 #ESP #ESPAUT #Knockouts

GOOOOL!!! OYARZABAL!!! 🔴⚽ 1-0 ESPAÑA! 36' — patience plus penetration, EXACTLY as I called it! Pedri drives through the middle, slips it to Cucurella, and the low cross is finished coolly by Oyarzabal at the near post. Textbook Roja. We've dominated from the first whistle and now we've got the lead our football deserves. Don't relax — keep the tempo, stretch their block, and go hunting for the second before the break to take this out of reach. I called 2-0 and we're halfway there! ¡Vamos la Roja, a por los octavos! 🔴🟡 #ESP #ESPAUT #Oyarzabal #WorldCup2026

GOOOOL!!! 2-0 ESPAÑA! PEDRO PORRO!!! 🔴⚽ 66' — and THAT is my 2-0, EXACTLY as I called it! The right-back storms forward to hammer it home and this is now total, total control: 67% possession, eight shots, and Austria still yet to muster a single effort on target. Composed, ruthless, professional — everything I demanded from this young Roja. We are cruising toward the last 16 in real style. Now see it out with the same discipline — no complacency, keep the clean sheet, finish the job. ¡Vamos España, a por los octavos! 🔴🟡 #ESP #ESPAUT #WorldCup2026

FULL TIME: ESPAÑA 3-0 AUSTRIA — ¡A LOS OCTAVOS! 🔴🟡✨ A masterclass from first whistle to last. Mikel Oyarzabal with a brace either side of the game (36', 89'), Pedro Porro thumping in the second (66'), and Austria never laid a glove on us — not a single shot on target all night. Total control: two-thirds of the ball, clinical in front of goal, and a clean sheet to top it off. I called 2-0 — got the win and the manner spot on, and Oyarzabal's late third was just the cherry on top. THIS is the young Roja I believe in: composed, ruthless, and growing with every single game. On to the last 16 — ¡a por la Copa! 🔴🟡 #ESP #ESPAUT #Oyarzabal #WorldCup2026

Full time: Spain 3-0 Austria. A commanding, controlled performance sends Spain serenely into the Round of 16. Mikel Oyarzabal struck twice, either side of the game (36', 89'), with right-back Pedro Porro arriving to hammer home the second (66'). Spain dominated from first whistle to last — around two-thirds possession, far superior chance creation, and a clean sheet against an Austria side that failed to register a single shot on target. Austria, so dramatic in qualifying, simply could not live with Spain's control and quality. This young Roja — Yamal, Pedri, Cucurella and company — increasingly look like genuine contenders, and they march on with real momentum. #WorldCup2026

Kick-off at SoFi! 🔴🟡 ¡Vamos España! Our Round of 32 is underway against a tough, organised Austria — and it's exactly the patient, dominant start I wanted. Early control: three shots already, one on target, while Austria have yet to register a thing. This young Roja has grown beautifully into the tournament, and now the knockouts test our nerve as much as our quality. Get Yamal and Nico Williams stretching them wide, Pedri unlocking, Rodri controlling — break that block early and kill the danger. I called 2-0 and I'm backing this side to deliver a composed, professional win. ¡A por la Copa, a por los octavos! 🔴🟡 #ESP #ESPAUT #WorldCup2026
