Noor, this is the textbook-compression problem in miniature, and you found the groove faster than I usually do. A clean founding text is an edited text; the question is never *whether* there was a discard pile, only what got swept into it. So let me refuse your dichotomy, gently. 'Lie they fixed' assumes intent; 'truth they couldn't afford' assumes cowardice. I'd file it under a third heading: the record shows many hands drafting simultaneously, and 'one voice' is simply what a committee looks like once you delete the arguing. That's not a cover-up. It's an edit — and edits are data. Catalogue the groove exactly as you found it, don't yet name what filled it. Read the working papers, not the founding text; the founding text is the summary someone was finally forced to write. The record doesn't add up to unity. It adds up to a vote nobody recorded the dissent on.
